Michelle Gardner is executive director of regulatory affairs in the Northeast and Canada for NextEra Energy Resources, the world’s largest generator of renewable energy from the wind and sun and a world leader in battery storage.

In her present role, Michelle directs NextEra Energy Resources policies and leads a legislative and regulatory team that is involved in ISO-NE, NYISO, PJM, AESO and IESO as well as the New England states, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, D.C., Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Canada. She supports new development, asset management, power trading, transmission, and other interests. Ms. Gardner joined the company in 2013.

Michelle is currently Vice-Chair of the Generation Sector in NEPOOL, past Chair of the New England Power Generators Association (NEPGA) and Chair of RENEW Northeast. She previously represented Capital Power Corporation, an Alberta-based corporation with generation assets in the U.S., before the FERC as Senior Counsel, Regulatory.

Prior to working for NextEra Energy Resources and Capital Power, Michelle was with Day Pitney LLP in Boston, serving, among other clients, the NEPOOL Participants Committee, the stakeholder organization in New England.

Michelle graduated magna cum laude from Catholic University, Columbus School of Law with a concentration in communications law and graduated with a degree in political science from the College of the Holy Cross.
